Tilt Or Touch? Getting The Most From Racing Controls
Ask ten mobile racing fans about controls and you'll get ten opinions. Some swear by tilt, others won't touch it. Both camps are right, because it depends on the game and on you.
Tilt gives you fine, analog control once you're used to it. Small adjustments feel natural, and it can be surprisingly precise. The downside is that it's sensitive to how you're holding the phone, so playing in bed or on a bumpy bus can be a nightmare.
Touch controls are more predictable. Lanes and buttons don't care how you're sitting, which makes them great for inconsistent environments. The trade-off is less nuance, since you're often locked to fixed positions.
My advice is to learn a game on touch first, get comfortable with the timing, then experiment with tilt if the game offers it. You'll know within a few races which one clicks for you.
Whatever you choose, spend two minutes in the settings before deciding a game feels bad. Half the time, the real problem is just the default control scheme.
